It has been 6 months since our sweet Tayvion went home to be with the Lord. There isn’t a day that goes by that we do not talk about him, honor him, and miss him. Despite his health issues and chronic pain, he was a bright light in our lives and his smile made you fall in love with him immediately. He was brave, strong, persistent and determined. He found joy in the small things in life and was our greatest example of unconditional love. Music, camping, swimming, and being with his family are what he loved the most. This year of firsts without him is so hard, but we are trying to find ways to honor and remember his joy and love. He made such an impact on the world in so many ways! Before he passed, he got to go to his Senior ball. There was something almost surreal to the day, as if this would be the most monumental day in his life (and he had so many). Although walking was difficult for him, he walked the entire bridge when they said his name with me and his community habilitation worker following behind him. As we walked the bridge, it was so emotional for me to watch him and think of all of the bridges in life he and I have crossed together. He was just so proud of himself and had many people in tears as they watched him! The school and community embraced him that day and evening. I am forever grateful to everyone who loved and embraced him during the 18 years we were blessed with him here on earth!
