Peter Condon is 30 years old and lives in Spokane, WA. He was diagnosed with Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) at the age of two.
Many thought he would not speak more than a few words or be able to function in groups. Support and information from the CdLS Foundation helped Pete and his family navigate over the years.
Peter’s love of sport and golf began when he was very young. He went out for the high school golf team and played all four years, even qualifying for the Washington State High school golf competition in 2014 which was played at Chambers Bay, home of the 2015 PGA US Open. Peter has been involved with Special Olympics golf for many years, earning a spot at the 2018 and the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games, taking silver and bronze respectively. For the past two years Peter has been involved with the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism as one of four founding members of the Stars of the Spectrum Golf League. The league “promotes golf as a positive activity and potential passion or career path for people with autism.”
The sport of golf has provided many opportunities and great enjoyment.
Peter works on the grounds crew at Latah Creek Golf Course. He is currently in his 10th season there. Peter is working toward improving his game and promoting golf as a lifelong sport for individuals with and without disabilities.

Previously held in person, the new Champions for CdLS Virtual Golf Tournament will begin May 10 and run until August 31. Anders, an avid golfer, felt a virtual event would allow more people to have fun on any golf course, all while raising awareness and funds for the CdLS Foundation. Anders has a special connection to the Foundation; his father Eric is on the Board of Directors and his sister Emily was born with CdLS and passed away at the age of three.
If you are not a golfer but still want to support the Foundation. You can donate here. No gift is too small.
