Carson is almost 3 years old!
He is an absolute joy in our lives & always the most smiley boy. We found out about Carson’s limb difference about halfway through the pregnancy. No doctor or test could pinpoint why it had occurred. We were induced at 37 weeks and Carson was born 4 lbs 6 oz.
We knew he’d be quickly whisked away to the NICU to be assessed with all the unknowns at the time. He quickly proved doctors wrong and didn’t have any of the things they were expecting him to!
He was clinically diagnosed with CdLS in the NICU and officially diagnosed by NIPT test 3 months later.
Carson started therapies when he was just 2 months old and has been crushing goals ever since. In the last few years he’s learned to roll, sit independently, feed himself with a spoon and drink from a straw cup. He’s close to learning to stand independently & he’s also a big brother now!
He’ll start school in the fall and we can’t wait to see how he learns and grows more in his own way!
What advice do have for other parents?
Having disabilities isn’t a sad or bad way of life. Things just may look a different than you initially expected. Our kids teach us to appreciate the little things in life that we may have taken for granted before. And they teach us a lot of patience! It can be a lot to take in, in the beginning. Take one day & one thing at a time. And always fight & advocate for them. You are their voice & they deserve the best!
