National Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) Awareness Day is observed the second Saturday of May each year in order to shed light on the little-known genetic syndrome. In 1989, the Foundation established Awareness Day to educate the nation.

In honor of National CdLS Awareness Day families around the country requested state and local proclamations from government officials, hosted local events, and changed their social media pages to purple in support of those they love with this rare disorder. The Foundation shared facts about CdLS, requested the community to wear purple on May 12th and sent out Awareness day packet for individuals and families to use.

“The goal of National Awareness Day is to raise awareness of CdLS as a lesser known disorder on our special day through passionate volunteers, and to inspire people to learn about the syndrome and Foundation,” said Executive Director Bonnie Royster.
