Growth Hormones (side effects)
What are the side effects of growth hormones?
Administering growth hormone may cause some potential side effects, most of which if monitored carefully, are reversible and treatable (e.g. diabetes with low blood sugar). Some potential side effects can be predicted given specific abnormalities on medical history (for example, a prior increased risk of developing cancers, which individuals with CdLS are not known to have). This is a long, expensive course of treatment, often over many years, and requires that the child receive multiple injections, usually given by the parents.
