Adulthood
Question: I’d like to know more about adulthood. Is it typical for people with CdLS to have jobs? Is fertility affected? Can it be passed on even if it was a spontaneous mutation?
Answer: When the variant is present in an individual, whether they inherited it from a parent or its brand new in them, it is a 50-50 chance to pass on with each conception they have. As far as infertility, we know that individuals with CdLS have fathered children but we don’t have studies of a large number of males with SMC3 to assess if fertility is normal or decreased and/or how many individuals are interested in reproduction.
