CdLS Centers of Excellence


The CdLS Foundation has designated Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the University of California, Irvine, as Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Centers of Excellence. The five-year designations recognize demonstrated excellence and outstanding achievement in research and/or clinical work related to CdLS.

The work at these institutions has changed the landscape of what is known about CdLS and how it can be managed. The designations and primary investigators at each institution are as follows:

  • Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Clinical and Research Center of Excellence. Ian Krantz, M.D.; Matthew Deardorff, M.D., Ph.D.; and Laird Jackson, M.D.
  • Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Clinical Center of Excellence. Antonie Kline, M.D.
  • University of California, Irvine, Research Center of Excellence. Arthur Lander, M.D., Ph.D.; Anne Calof, Ph.D.; and Thomas Schilling, Ph.D.
  • Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Research Center of Excellence. Dale Dorsett, Ph.D.

Criteria

In order to receive this designation, an institution must meet the following criteria, set up by the CdLS Foundation:

Clinical Centers

  • Offer a specialized multidisciplinary approach to patients in a specific CdLS clinic in a medical facility.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge base of CdLS.
  • Commit to furthering clinical knowledge of CdLS through collaboration with others.
  • Disseminate new clinical findings related to CdLS via national meetings, publications or other significant contributions.
  • Receive private or public funding for CdLS research

Research Centers

  • Pursue research that provides a significant contribution towards understanding the science behind CdLS.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge base of CdLS.
  • Commit to furthering scientific knowledge of CdLS through collaboration with others.
  • Disseminate new scientific findings related to CdLS via national meetings, publications or other significant contributions.
  • Receive private or public funding for CdLS research
