The second annual Leaps of Love pledge event takes place in February 2010. The Valentine’s Day-inspired program—most suitable for preschool through grade two—has children leaping to benefit the CdLS Foundation.
Here’s how it works:
Participating child care centers/schools receive a kit (see photo at bottom) that contains complete instructions and materials for conducting a Leaps of Love event. The kit includes the booklet Leaps of Love for Emma, an age appropriate story about a little girl with CdLS, as well as heart stencils, stickers and red construction paper to make a Valentine’s Day card for Emma, or a child with CdLS in their community.
Students collect pledges for each leap completed in one minute. Prizes are awarded to all children raising more than $25. The school that raises the most money overall is awarded a $250 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble.
The 2009 Leaps of Love pledge event raised nearly $7,000 for the Foundation. Sweetwater Primary School in Sweetwater, TN, won the Barnes & Noble gift certificate.
